Bobi Wine succeeds in demonstration fight to remove extra levies!

While most people think the #ThisTaxMustGo demonstration that was to move from Constitutional Square to Parliament yesterday protesting against the social media and mobile money taxes was short-lived, its goals were indeed scored!

The President yesterday afternoon through the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda asked parliament to sit and review these two taxes that have been a country outcry since 1st July.

After a plenary sitting yesterday, the parliament is today set to discuss with all legislators and decide on the fate of the amended Excise Duty Bill and how to put public concerns into consideration! All thanks to Bobi Wine who stood up to lead the struggle in representing the cries of the minority.

The question however remains, if these two taxes are trashed, what will become of the people already exploited; in terms of the huge amounts of money already collected from them?
